Sukhothai, located 5 hours from either Chiang Mai or Bangkok, was the ancient capital of Siam (Thailand). Consisting of four zones, the park never felt crowded and was a nice break from the tourist hubs of Chiang Mai and Bangkok. Sunset at Wat Mahatat was amazing and a must see for any visit to Sukhothai. Inscribed on the UNSECO World Heritage Site list in 1991, Sukhothai developed the many of the unique characteristics of Siamese (Thai) culture.
