A bamboo grove at Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple in Kyoto. Founded in 811 in the Arashiyama area of Kyoto. There are around eight thousand Buddhist statuettes at the temple that memorialize the souls of the dead. They had been scattered around Adashino and then collected about 1903. Around ten thousand stone statues are lit up with candles during ‘sento kuyo’.
